BOONE, N.C. — Thursday night’s series opener between Appalachian State University baseball and Longwood was suspended in the top of the sixth inning due to fog.

Thursday’s game will resume on Friday at 3 p.m. at Appalachian State’s Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. The conclusion of the opener will be immediately followed by the second game of the series.

Appalachian State was trailing, 1-0, in the top of the sixth inning when thick fog enveloped Smith Stadium. After a one-hour-and-38-minute delay, the game was officially suspended until Friday. When play resumes, Longwood will be at the plate with nobody out and nobody on base in the top of the sixth.
