BOONE, N.C. - It came down to the final day of the regular season, but Appalachian State University women's soccer (4-10-4, 3-5-2 SBC) came away with a signature 1-0 win over Coastal Carolina (9-7-1, 4-5-1 SBC) on Senior Day at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex to earn a berth into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Appalachian needed a win over CCU, and a Georgia Southern win over ULM to clinch a spot in the tournament, which is held in Foley, Ala. The Eagles captured a 2-0 over ULM earlier in the day, so all the Black and Gold had to do was collect a victory, and did so thanks to the leg of Sarah Moon on top of a tremendous defensive effort for the first shutout of the year.
