App State Baseball Shining In CPL

BOONE, N.C. — Five members of the Appalachian State baseball team are currently playing in the Coastal Plain League.

* Bailey Welch is tied for the league lead with six doubles and 16 runs, as he's played in 18 games for the High Point-Thomasville HiToms near his hometown of Randleman. He has four two-hit games, including a two-double performance June 7.

* Kendall McGowan, one of three App State players with his hometown Forest City Owls, is hitting .386 (fourth in the league at 17-for-44) with 15 runs scored (fifth in the league) and nine stolen bases (third in the league after injuries slowed him down during his freshman season with the Mountaineers).
