This past weekend, Macy Pate, a 10-year-old golfer from Boone, competed against girls from across the Carolinas in the sub-regional qualifier of the annual Drive, Chip & Putt event, which was founded in 2013 by the Masters Tournament, USGA and The PGA of America in order to grow the game among youth.
Macy now moves on to compete in the regional qualifier in Pinehurst on Sept. 4 to earn a chance to play in the National Finals held during the week of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, which, of course, is a huge deal.
