What we learned from the third week of the NHL season

Lessons from the past week of NHL play:

•Although the Ducks scored only six goals in their first seven games — none from the first two lines — General Manager Bob Murray was determined to be patient with his underachieving team. The alternative was to blame Coach Bruce Boudreau for what seems to be a lack of locker-room leadership, which is worse than the lack of goals from Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Boudreau still might pay the price if there's no quick turnaround.

•The Montreal Canadiens (9-0-0) are close to making history again. They set an NHL record for consecutive regulation wins to start a season, fueled by Carey Price's 49-save performance against Toronto on Saturday.
