On Saturday, February 20th, The Rinks and Ducks hosted Try Hockey for Free Day at The Rinks – Irvine Inline and The Rinks – Westminster ICE as part of USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America. Over 90 children from ages 4 to 12 participated in these hour-long sessions and were able to learn the basics of the game of hockey for free.
For these events, participants were outfitted with complete sets of hockey equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, and pants) and coached by The Rinks coaching staff. Each participant was given basic instruction on hockey fundamentals such as skating, passing and shooting and took part in cross-ice hockey games.
