The months-long impasse between the Ducks and center Rickard Rakell ended Friday when Rakell signed a six-year extension worth $3.8 million per season.
The agreement was reached more than three months after Rakell and teammate Hampus Lindholm became restricted free agents. The sides had been unable to get contract extensions largely because of the Ducks’ budget restrictions under the salary cap and the terms of the deals.
But the Ducks will now get back one of their budding forwards. Rakell, 23, scored 20 goals in 72 games last season, some of the highlight-reel variety.
