Oakland A's farmhand Barry Zito sells Bay Area home for $8.15 million

Former Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito, who currently plays for the Athletics’ Triple-A affiliate, has sold his hillside estate in Kentfield, Calif., for $8.15 million.

He bought the house in 2007 for $8.863 million, records show.

Built in 2002, the Mediterranean-style home sits behind gates on more than two acres with sweeping views of Mt. Tamalpais and Phoenix Lake.

The main house, entered through a round rotunda, opens to a step-down living room set beneath beamed cathedral-style ceilings. A formal dining room, a family room, a center-island kitchen and a wine cellar/tasting room are also within the 7,116 square feet of space.
