Gunman opens fire in Studio City, is shot by LAPD officers

Reports of a man with a gun opening fire in Studio City Friday afternoon prompted a massive Los Angeles Police Department response and closed both Ventura and Laurel Canyon boulevards.

Police received reports of gunshots at 3:20 p.m. after the man was seen near Vantage Avenue and Cantura Street in Studio City, said Los Angeles police Officer Matthew Ludwig.

Social media lit up with witnesses saying that a bank robbery occurred, and that the body of a man was lying on a bench.

LAPD will not confirm that it was bank robbery or that someone was killed.
