The Anaheim Ducks were 21 seconds away from coming up fruitless against a team destined for the draft lottery for the second straight night.
And while the Ducks salvaged a point, it was the Edmonton Oilers who emerged with a 6-5 win in the shootout Sunday at the Honda Center.
The loss comes on the heels of a 2-0 defeat from the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday.
Down 5-3 in the late stages of the game, Anaheim scored two times in the final 21 seconds to force overtime. After neither team scored in the 3-on-3, it was the Oilers’ Connor McDavid who ended the game with his goal in the third round of the shootout.
