The Ducks have recalled defenseman Shane O’Brien from the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
O'Brien has played in 14 games with the Gulls this season, scoring 0-2=2 points with 35 penalty minutes (PIM). He was assigned to San Diego on Sept. 28.
O’Brien, 31 (8/9/83), has recorded 13-79=92 points with a +6 rating and 916 penalty minutes (PIM) in 537 career NHL games. O’Brien began his NHL career with the Ducks, making his debut in 2006-07 (2-12=14 points with a +5 rating in 62 games). He went on to play for Tampa Bay, Vancouver, Nashville, Colorado, Calgary and Florida, compiling career highs in goals (4) and points (21) in 2007-08 with the Lightning.
