Ducks' Nate Thompson suspended for three games

It was expected that Ducks forward Nate Thompson would receive a suspension for his head hit on Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk.

But it wasn’t for one game. Monday’s verdict from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety was for three games and it will cost Thompson $25,806.45 in salary. The Ducks start a trip on Thursday in Buffalo and Thompson will be eligible to return to the lineup on Dec. 22 at the New York Rangers.

The incident between Thompson and Faulk was at 6:25 of the first period of Friday’s game at Anaheim.
