It’s official now: Enrique Hernandez will out more than a few days with his strained hamstring.
Before their series opener against the Giants on Monday, the Dodgers placed Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list and called up catcher Austin Barnes. Barnes arrived at Dodger Stadium in time to take batting practice.
It was a foregone conclusion that Barnes would be called up by Tuesday, when rosters can be expanded. Barnes, the only Dodger at triple-A Oklahoma City to make the all-Pacific Coast League team, gives the Dodgers a third catcher. Starter Yasmani Grandal has been battling a sore left shoulder.
