IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the eighth week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Freeland, So., INF, UCF
Freeland hit .429 (6-14) in a series win at Memphis this past weekend with six runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and a league-leading 10 runs driven in. In Saturday’s win, the sophomore went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Cameron Bye, So., Wichita State
Bye pitched eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and only three hits and three walks in a 5-0 win at East Carolina on Sunday, April 11.
