IRVING, Texas – Tulsa linebacker Zaven Collins has been chosen as the winner of the 2020 Bronko Nagurski Trophy as college football’s national defensive player of the year by the Football Writers Association of America.

Collins becomes the second American Athletic Conference player to win the Nagurski Trophy in the conference’s eight seasons, joining former Temple linebacker Tyler Matakevich, who won in 2015.

Collins is the first Tulsa player to win any of the current on-field performance awards and becomes the Golden Hurricane's first FWAA All-American since offensive lineman Jerry Ostroski in 1991.
