MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- James Flanders matched an American Athletic Conference record with five rushing touchdowns in a 249-yard evening as Tulsa secured its place in the west division with a 59-30 win at Memphis.
The victory moved Tulsa (6-2, 3-1 American) into possession of second place in the American Athletic Conference west division. Memphis (5-3, 2-2 American) dropped its first home game under head coach Mike Norvell.
In a matchup that promised offensive fireworks, both teams delivered early, as Flanders scored the first two of his five rushing touchdowns in the first quarter as Tulsa jumped out to an early 14-0 lead.
