IRVING, Texas - HIstory was made in Sunday afternoon as Cincinnati - the lone unbeaten team in FBS football - was selected to face Alabama in the semifinal round of the 2021 College Football Playoff.
Cincinnati becomes the first American Athletic Conference team to reach the four-team playoff. The Bearcats and Crimson Tide will meet in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Dec. 31 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Cincinnati was ranked No. 4 in the final CFP rankings, while Alabama moved to No. 1 after the Crimson Tide claimed the Southeastern Conference title Saturday.
