A busy week in The American has league teams in action every day before the start of conference play next week.
Cincinnati got things started Monday as the Bearcats extended their winning streak to eight games — the longest by an American Athletic Conference team this season — with a 10-3 win against Northwestern. Cincinnati, which has seen 3B Connor McVey string together a 16-game hitting streak, resumes play Thursday, beginning a three-game series with Xavier.
Houston carries a five-game winning streak into the week after a series sweep of Grand Canyon. The Cougars allowed only two runs in the three games against the Antelopes as P Andrew Lantrip and P Seth Romero went the distance without allowing an earned run in their respective starts.
