INDIANAPOLIS – UConn senior Breanna Stewart was the recipient of the 2016 Naismith Trophy and head coach Geno Auriemma was chosen as the Naismith Coach of the Year, as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Monday.
Stewart has now received the prestigious award three times in her college career, joining the likes of Maya Moore and Diana Taurasi. Ten UConn players have won the Women's Naismith Trophies. Auriemma, who is in his 31st year at the helm of the Huskies program, has been tabbed the Naismith Coach of the Year seven times in his career.
