IRVING, Texas – Student-athletes of the American Athletic Conference who choose not to take part in intercollegiate activities during the Fall 2020 academic semester due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to have their scholarships honored for the 2020-21 academic year at their institutions.
“We are fully committed to the academic and athletic pursuits of our student-athletes,” said American Commissioner Mike Aresco. “We understand that student-athletes may feel uncertainty about competing and taking part in athletic activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important that they and their families know that their scholarships will be honored during these unprecedented times should they elect not to compete.
