Penalty Kick Powers South Florida into American Men's Soccer Championship

IRVING, Texas A first half penalty kick was the difference as No. 3 seed South Florida defeated No. 2 seed SMU 1-0 to advance to the American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship on Thursday, November 10 a the FIU Soccer Stadium.

With the win, South Florida (8-5-4) will face the winner of No. 1 FIU and No. 5 Memphis on Sunday, November 13 at 1 p.m. ET/noon CT on ESPN+. It will be South Florida’s fourth appearance in the Championship final (2013, 2014, 2016). SMU dropped to 10-5-1 with the loss.

The first half stood even with both goalkeepers coming away with a save, until the 30th minute.
