IRVING, Texas – Fifth-seeded Cincinnati pushed out to a big second-half lead and held on to defeat No. 4 seed SMU, 74-71, in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championship Thursday afternoon at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
With the win, the Bearcats (11-10) advance to the semifinals for the fourth time and will face top-seeded Wichita State on Saturday, March 13 at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
The Bearcats opened the second half on a 16-3 run to jump out to a 20-point lead with 14:16 remaining at 46-26.
