Houston's Taylor Named National Defensive Player of the Week

Houston linebacker Steven Taylor has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Cougars’ 40-16 victory at Cincinnati last Thursday night.

Taylor, a 6-1, 225-pound senior from Cedar Hill, Texas, had a team-leading nine tackles, including two sacks, along with a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown that helped turn the game around in the fourth quarter. Taylor, who leads the nation with 5.5 sacks, spearheaded a Houston defense that limited Cincinnati to 30 rushing yards.

Taylor is already a member of the Bronko Nagurski Watch List.
