PINEHURST, N.C. – Houston was the top team in round one of the 2022 American Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday at Pinehurst No. 6. The Cougars fired a team score of 4-over-par 288 to take a four-stroke lead following the opening 18 holes. No. 28 UCF and SMU were tied for second at 9-over-par 297.
Due to expected inclement weather on Monday at Pinehurst No. 6, teams played the opening nine holes of the second round on Sunday afternoon. Houston extended its lead unofficially to eight strokes at 7-over-par halfway through round two before play was suspended for the night due to darkness.
