IRVING, Texas -- Both Houston and Memphis are headed to the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, it was announced Sunday, March 13.
Houston (29-5) earned The American's automatic NCAA bid after winning the 2022 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship on Sunday, defeating Memphis, 71-53, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The Cougars will be the No. 5 seed in the South Region and will face No. 12 UAB in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday, March 18 at 9:20 p.m. Eastern on TNT.
Memphis (21-10) earned an at-large bid and will compete in the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2014.
