IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball honors, for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 27.
Player of the Week
Taniyah Thompson * So. * G * East Carolina
Thompson enjoyed an impressive showing on Dec. 22 against Tulane in the fourth straight victory for East Carolina, scoring a season-high 27 points in the Pirate win. Thompson was 11-for-19 from the field in the contest, including an impressive 9-for-13 on 2-point attempts, chipping in six rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes. Her 12 points in the fourth quarter alone led all players in the game, helping quell a Tulane surge that saw the visitors pull within five points midway through the final quarter.
