LUBBOCK, Texas – East Carolina’s bid for its first College World Series appearance in program history ended Sunday, as the Pirates fell 11-0 to Texas Tech in the deciding game of the NCAA Super Regional Dan Law Field. The Red Raiders won the best-of-three series, two games to one.
East Carolina (38-23-1) was limited to two hits – both in the first two innings – as two Texas Tech pitchers combined for the shutout as the Pirates were held scoreless for only the fourth time this season.
Texas Tech third baseman Hunter Hargrove went 3 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Red Raiders, who advanced to the College World Series for the second time in three seasons.
