CINCINNATI -- Redshirt junior outfielder Griffin Merritt was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Baseball Team on Wednesday. He becomes just the fourth University of Cincinnati baseball player to earn the honor and the first since Ian Happ, who was the only other First Team selection in 2015.
Merritt had an outstanding season at the plate, batting .315 with an OPS of 1.077. His 19 home run campaign led the American Athletic Conference and is now tied for third-most ever by a Bearcat in a single season. Merritt also paced the AAC in slugging percentage (.
