Sylvester Croom and Derrick Henry have more in common than might at first be supposed considering their age difference of 40 years.
Both played football at Alabama, where each earned All-American honors. Henry was a unanimous All-American running back last season. Croom was the first-team center on the American Football Coaches Association's All-American squad in 1974.
During the Alabama careers of both men, the Crimson Tide lost five games and won a national championship. In Henry's three seasons, Alabama went 37-5 and won the CFP national title last season. In Croom's four seasons, the Tide went 43-5 and received the UPI national title for 1973.
