A few thousand fans got a first look at the next Alabama basketball team in Monday night's Tide Tipoff event in Coleman Coliseum.
It was the soft opening night for Kira Lewis Jr., the No. 39 recruit who reclassified to enter college early. The 17-year old point guard showed flashes of his potential as a perimeter shooter and distributor.
"He has a long way to go," coach Avery Johnson said. "Is he talented? Yes. He's not turning 18 until next April but you saw some flashes from him. The great thing about his situation is he doesn't have to be an aircraft carrier for us.
