Ty Simpson is preparing for a chance to win Alabama’s starting quarterback job, but the former five-star in the 2022 recruiting class learned the game from his legendary father.
Jason Simpson, who has served as head coach at Tennessee-Martin since 2006, helped guide his son through Westview High School in Martin, Tenn. He assisted Ty to 41 touchdown passes in his senior year as one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation guided his program to a Class 2A State Championship and earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors for the state of Tennessee. Simpson has not only helped his son, but he surprisingly has crafted an impressive coaching tree in his head coaching tenure.
