Tua Tagovailoa finished the 2018 season with a 199.44 passer rating, just above Kyler Murray’s 199.20 passer rating. Both quarterbacks passed the previous record of 198.9 that Baker Mayfield set in 2017.
Tagovailoa took the lead after the Orange Bowl, in which Murray went 19-37 for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Alabama defense, giving him a season-low 139.11 passer rating. While Tagovailoa did not have a stellar final game against Clemson, his 145.24 passer rating - the fourth-lowest of the season - was just enough to stay above Murray.
