There was no confetti or champagne, but the University of Alabama men's basketball team rang in 2016 successfully on Saturday, wrapping up the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 68-49 win over Norfolk State.
The win gave Alabama a better-than-anticipated 10-3 nonconference record as it heads into league play Thursday at Ole Miss. It also marked a return to form for leading scorer Retin Obasohan, who had 23 points to lead the Crimson Tide.
"I'm just glad to get the win," Obasohan said. "That's what matters to me. As far as (SEC) play starting, I am ecstatic.
