New England Patriots rookie cornerback Cyrus Jones won't play in Super Bowl LI on Sunday. He's been designated by the Patriots as one of their seven inactive players for their meeting with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL's 2016 championship game.
But Jones still would join a short list if the Patriots win on Sunday - and become the third former Alabama player on it. Jones would have gone from a team recognized as the collegiate national champion in one season to the Super Bowl-winning team in the next.
Alabama won the CFP national championship game for the 2015 season before New England selected Jones in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
