That's one of the six seasons that the Volunteers opened with a victory over a ranked opponent, a feat most recently accomplished in 2006, when No. 23 Tennessee beat No. 9 California 35-18. On Saturday, the unranked Vols kick off their 2018 campaign against No. 17 West Virginia.
