Report: Avery Johnson Jr. to Transfer, Join Father at Alabama

According to a report published by AL.com on Friday afternoon, Texas A&M sophomore guard Avery Johnson Jr. will transfer to Alabama to join his father and Alabama head coach, Avery Johnson Sr..

The transfer marks a change in plans after Avery Johnson Sr. told AL.com shortly after his arrival in Tuscaloosa that his son planned to stay at Texas A&M.

Johnson Jr. averaged 1.4 points in limited action for the Aggies last season.

His change of heart could be the result of transfers by former Alabama guards Ricky Tarrant and Devin Mitchell which weakened a once deep position for the Crimson Tide.
