Reaction pours in on death of former SEC commish Mike Slive

Former SEC commissioner Mike Slive died Wednesday in Birmingham at the age of 77.

As a prostate cancer survivor, Slive founded the Mike Slive Foundation for Prostate Cancer Research upon his retirement. The Mike Slive Foundation's mission is to raise awareness about prostate cancer and generate funding for prostate cancer research to eradicate the disease.

Slive served as commissioner of the SEC from 2002 until his retirement in 2015.

He launched the SEC Network and conference expansion to 14 teams.

As expected, the sports world reacted to the news Wednesday evening from coaches to university presidents to high-profile media members.
