Sulligent's Rashad Johnson went from a walk-on running back at Alabama to an eight-year career as a safety in the NFL. After a season on the sidelines, Johnson has announced his retirement from the NFL via an Instagram post.

A walk-on from Sulligent High School, Johnson switched positions at Alabama and became a two-time All-SEC first-team safety for the Crimson Tide. In 2008, the American Football Coaches Association selected Johnson as a first-team All-American.

Johnson entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice of the Arizona Cardinals in 2009.
