Only by the lofty standards that University of Alabama punter JK Scott set in his freshman season could 2015 have been considered a "sophomore slump."
As a freshman, Scott averaged 48 yards per kick and an NCAA-leading 44.67 net yards per punt, earning All-America honors from most awarding bodies. In 2015, those numbers "dipped" to 44.2 yards per punt and a net of 42.4 yards per attempt, still All-SEC level numbers but not quite equal to his explosive totals from the year before.
Scott, who met with media at the Alabama football complex last week, dismissed the idea of a slump but did indicate he might have had an overworked leg at the start of last season.
