South Alabama on Tuesday was awarded the Vic Bubas Cup for the fourth straight season as the Sun Belt Conference's all-sports champion.
Though the Sun Belt baseball tournament champion is yet to be crowned, the Jaguars have already clinched the points championship. They have now twice won the Bubas Cup -- named for the late former Sun Belt Commissioner -- four straight years, having also done so from 1991-94.
"In a year in which the namesake of this award passed away, we should pause and recognize Commissioner Bubas and his impact on the Sun Belt Conference," South Alabama athletics director Joel Erdmann said.
