Jumbo Package: No Alabama football would be “economically catastrophic” per mayor

Happy Tuesday, everyone. The biggest news in the sports world is that Major League Baseball appears headed for a July start.

It ain’t college football, but any good news surrounding sports is welcome at this point.

Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox said that canceling football would mean economic disaster for the city.

“It would be economically catastrophic for Tuscaloosa if there is no football season,” Maddox said. “Even a mitigated football season with restricted attendance and number of ball games would have dire economic consequences.”

Alabama football is a significant economic driver for both the city of Tuscaloosa and the state.
