John Metchie is ready to shine as a starting wide receiver for Alabama this season

The time has come for John Metchie III to show out at wide receiver.

Despite the talent of Javon Baker and capabilities of Slade Bolden, the native Canadian fended off both players to grab the third and final starting job for Alabama at receiver. According to the depth chart from Nick Saban, Metchie will be at the bottom of the formation as the “Z” receiver — opposite DeVonta Smith. The 6-foot, 195-pounder arrived as a four-star in the Crimson Tide’s 2019 signing class, following a great career at St. James High School in Maryland. He totaled more than 1,300 yards rushing, more than 2,500 yards receiving and 42 touchdowns in four seasons.
