Mothers are central to the Alabama experience, so on Mother’s day it’s only fitting that we celebrate that fact.
Bear Bryant didn’t come to coach at the University of Alabama because “Daddy called”… and thank goodness because that sounds creepy. No, the Bear said he came home to Alabama because “Momma called.” The Bear wasn’t referencing his real mother, he was referencing the University of Alabama, where he played football and went to college. The Bear like so many of us see our time at Alabama as a formative time, a time where we learned and grew under the protection of our University.
