Handicapper surprised by how much Alabama's favored to beat LSU, Auburn

Of course Alabama plays neither LSU, nor Auburn this weekend. Still, it's never too early to break out the hypothetical crystal ball and pretend they do.

Mobile-based sports handicapper Danny Sheridan told AL.com what his point spreads would be if they played Saturday instead of November.

The No. 1 Crimson Tide would be a 10-point favorite over LSU, Sheridan said. And the Iron Bowl would have a 19-point spread with Alabama favored.

"Do I think that's too high?" Sheridan said. "Hell yeah I think that's too high."

But as he explained, the lines aren't as much of a prediction for the outcome, but an effort to get bettors to spread their money equally over and under the number.
