Experience as a head coach is one of the things that set Greg Goff apart as the University of Alabama sought its new baseball coach. But he made an impression long before he'd ever taken a head coaching job.
Former Kentucky baseball coach Keith Madison brought Goff on as his pitching coach before the 2000 season in Lexington. Goff now takes over at Alabama with 11 years of head coaching experience and four years as an SEC assistant, but at that point, he had barely begun his coaching career at Southeast Missouri State.
