Former Alabama WR Tyrone Prothro joins Jasper High staff

Former Alabama standout Tyrone Prothro has been hired to coach receivers at Jasper, the school announced today.

He joins the Class 5A Vikings after spending last season on the staff at Spanish Fort.

Prothro's playing career was cut short after he suffered a career-ending compound fracture in his leg against Florida during the 2005 season. The injury resulted in 12 surgeries over the next decade.

"Tyrone Prothro is first and foremost a great man and secondly a great coach," Jasper first-year coach Bryan Moore said.
