Former Alabama, NFL star selling multi-million-dollar baseball card

Heritage Auctions' Spring Sports Card Catalog Auction includes an item that's predicted to set a record for the highest price paid for a baseball card.

Heritage Auctions set the estimated value of the 1952 Topps card of New York Yankees outfielder Mickey Mantle at $3,500,000.

While the auction house didn't reveal the seller of the card, Forbes did, identifying the owner of the card as Evan Mathis. The former Homewood High School and Alabama standout has become a sports-card dealer since he retired following his 12th NFL season in 2016.
