The University of Alabama football team lost two players Wednesday when it was announced that true freshman running back DeSherrius Flowers and redshirt sophomore Jonathan Cook were no longer with the team.
Flowers, who enrolled early in the spring from Vigor High School, was ruled ineligible “due to a recently initial eligibility issue.” As such, he will not be clear for enrollment for the fall semester.
The Tuscaloosa News has learned that Flowers will transfer to a junior college.
Flowers helped provide depth to a thin running back position. Derrick Henry returns after a solid sophomore season, while Kenyan Drake and Ronnie Clark return from injuries.
