For the last two seasons all the talk about the defense centered around the defensive line, a unit that provided great depth and much production. The unit took some losses with the departure of A’Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, D.J. Pettway and Darren Lake. Much of the defense took its lead from the attitude and leadership of Robinson and Reed. Reed was considered the heartbeat of the defense. Getting Jonathan Allen to return for his senior season was a huge boost for the group. If there is a concern with this unit, it’s in the depth, which can’t match what it had last season.
