Some jams in baseball appear to be all but inescapable. There's damage on the way, whether it's a dent or larger devastation.

The University of Alabama found itself in one of those jams. Then it found a trap door.

Alabama (2-1) used its pitching and defense to get out of a seventh-inning jam that threatened its narrow lead and control of the series against Maryland (1-2) on Sunday. The Terrapins had runners on second and third with no outs in the top of the seventh, but the Crimson Tide escaped with its lead intact and shut the door in the final two frames to win 5-1.
